1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Takealot Vouchers ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information. It applies to information collected through the website at Takealot Vouchers and any related forms, correspondence, or services.
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). In terms of POPIA, we are the "responsible party" for the personal information we collect.

3. What personal information we collect
When you complete the competition entry form or contact us, we may collect:
- Identifying information: full name, date of birth, marital status;
- Contact information: email address, mobile number, province, city;
- Financial and employment information: occupation, monthly income, existing insurance cover, financial goals, income protection interest;
- Health-related information: smoking status;
- Consent records: your agreement to terms, marketing preferences, and will-drafting interest;
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited on the Site.

Providing personal information is voluntary. However, if you do not provide the required information, we cannot enter you into the competition or process a quote request.
5. Who we share it with
We may share your personal information with:
- Licensed Financial Services Providers (FSPs) and their authorised representatives, where you have selected "Get a quote" or "More info". These providers are independent responsible parties and will process your information under their own privacy policies and FAIS obligations;
- Astute, a financial services provider platform used to facilitate financial needs analysis and advice;
- Service providers who help us operate the Site, send emails and SMS messages, or administer the competition, under written agreements that require them to protect your information;
- Legal and regulatory authorities, where required by law, court order, or a regulatory request.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cross-border transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we ensure that the recipient is subject to laws, binding rules, or contractual terms that provide an adequate level of protection substantially similar to POPIA.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above, or as required by law:
- Competition entries: retained for 12 months after the winner is announced, then deleted or anonymised;
- Quote request details: shared with the relevant FSP, who will retain them under their own retention policy and FAIS record-keeping obligations (typically 5 years);
- Marketing consent records: retained until you withdraw consent, plus a reasonable period thereafter to demonstrate compliance.
8. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct or update information that is inaccurate, misleading, or out of date;
- Delete information that we no longer have a lawful basis to keep;
- Object to processing in certain circumstances;
- Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing that happened before withdrawal);
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

9. Cookies and analytics
The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working, measure performance, and understand how visitors use it. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Site may not work correctly if you do.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
